Bartlett West Rim

USA> Moab> Bartlett>

Overview

hike3.3adv

This hike follows the west rim of Bartlett Canyon. You'll enjoy hours exploring a high slickrock shelf with continuous views, dramatic clifftop terrain, domes and gullies, salmon-hued sandstone, the top of Bartlett Bridge and a fun sense of adventure. The rim is mostly open and smooth. About midway you'll negotiate a series of alcoves, one of which hosts a large eroding arch where the rim pinches down to a narrow exposed ledge with loose debris. Use your judgment and turn back if you're not comfortable.

Dubinky Well Road (BLM 137) is a graded dirt road generally suitable for highway vehicles. Keep an eye out for occasional rough spots where the road goes over raised cattle grates or crosses small washes. There are a few sandy stretches that could get muddy when wet, so avoid driving here with 2WD if it has rained recently.

Park near the junction with Upper Tenmile Road (3D Safari Route). Walk north up this road through a gate, and continue a few minutes until you reach a fenceline heading east toward the rim. The hike begins along the north side of this fence.
