Snow Canyon - South

USA> St George>

Overview

hike3.5int

This hike traverses the south part of Snow Canyon State Park from Chuckwalla to Johnson Canyon. You'll enjoy red desert, sandstone cliffs, moderate climbs, dramatic Paradise Rim, ridge top views, scenic canyons, Scout Cave, a lava field, shady narrows and Johnson Arch. The area is beautiful and mostly quiet but the trails are popular and there are houses near some sections. Some scrambling and route finding is required descending northward from Paradise Rim. Go early and bring water during the warm season.

Season

Best time of year?

Parking fees are charged at the trailheads at both ends of the route. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed at all times.

You could do this as a long out-and-back, but the route is best enjoyed as described as a one-way hike. You can either stage vehicles at both ends, or take a ride share back to the starting point.
