Twin Peaks

USA> Bay Area> San Francisco>

Overview

hike3.5int

This hike climbs from the Panhandle to the summit of Twin Peaks. Along the way are the Haight Ashbury, colorful houses, city parks, residential streets, steep climbs, public stairways and a short rocky trail. The highlight is panoramic views over San Francisco and the Bay Area. There are a couple busy intersections on the way up and often throngs of tourists at the top but much of the route is relatively quiet considering you’re in the city. Bring a jacket as the summit can get chilly on windy days.

If you're driving, the hardest part about getting there can be finding a place to park. If you don't find a spot near the end of the Panhandle, try looking along the upper edge of Buena Vista Park.
